Tour Along the Santa Fe Trail
On June 15 the Cimarron Heritage Museum is again sponsoring a tour along the Santa Fe Trail. The day will begin at 6:30 with breakfast burritos and coffee available for sale ($6) at 6:30 am at the museum.
While at the museum be sure to visit the Santa Fe Trail Exhibit funded by the Perkins-Prothro Ranch Foundation. This exhibit features life on the Santa Fe Trail thru interpretive exhibits, photographs and artifacts from along the trail through Cimarron County.
Tour participants will need to sign a release prior to loading on one of two busses. The busses will depart the museum promptly at 8:00am and head west to the first stop, McNees Crossing, then on to Ft Nichols, autograph rock, signature rock, followed by lunch ($12) at the museum.
After lunch the tour will travel to the east side of the county to a massacre site, Truijillo Springs, and to an overlook at Willowbar Crossing if time allows.
