Marking the Santa Fe Trail can involve two possible methods of funding, which can be employed either alone, or in combination.
-
A National Park Service challenge cost-share, which requires matching the money granted by the NPS with a matching valuation in labor or other approved resources. It is not an outright grant.
-
A grant from the SFTA’s Marker Fund. This is an outright grant, although it cannot exceed $1,000. It is also coming from a fund with limited resources, so should be used with discretion. Its most efficient employment should be in conjunction with a cost-share, if possible. It should be used alone only if for some reason the particular project cannot be combined with a cost-share, or is small enough that a cost-share would be impractical.
